Cambodia Relief Mission 2012
Introduction:
The IMAM Cambodian Relief Mission was first introduced in response to the humanitarian crisis faced by the Cambodian population as a result of natural and man-made disasters like the 2001 flood and the subsequent drought which left more than 300,000 people in 12 provinces in dire need of food assistance. The aforementioned disasters alongside wars that had shaped Cambodia ’s history had left the population, especially children, vulnerable to malnutrition, poor hygiene and sanitation.
This mission will hopefully be able to cater the needs for healthcare and basic necessities to Cambodians, as well as provide a platform for medical students to get acquainted with basic medical services especially in the field of humanitarian mission. We also want to bring the attention of the world on the conditions and environments that some Cambodians are living in.
Our objectives and visions are:
Cambodians:
- Providing free basic humanitarian and medical services especially to women and children
- Instilling awereness on healthy lifestyles and medical issues like family planning, sexually-transmitted diseases and basic hygiene
Volunteers:
- Creating golden opportunities for volunteering students to contibute back to society
- Offering once in a life time and hands-on chances for students to experience real life problems, outside hospitals
- Providing a training platform for students to work under pressure in extreme conditions through team work and perseverance.
- Allowing clinical students to participate as a part of elective modules.
Throughout this project, we hope that we will be able to carry out several activities:
